The “Mark Marcucci Tribute” Mod-Lite race will be held on the Saturday evening portion of the July 13th and July 14th event at Mercer Raceway Park in honor of the winningest driver in the Mod-Lite division at Mercer Raceway Park.
Mark Marcucci passed away on the early morning of April 14th, 2018 of injuries sustained as a passenger in an automobile accident. Marcucci was 29 years old and was born and raised in West Middlesex, PA. He also recently married the love of his life, Kara, on February 3rd, 2018.
Marcucci had many accomplishments at Mercer Raceway Park. He had an astounding 42 wins just at the Mercer Raceway Park along with 4 Track Championships, which some of the best have never even accomplished.
In honor of Mark Marcucci being literally one of the “best of the best” at Mercer Raceway Park, a Tribute race will be held in his honor on Saturday, July 14th. This race will be $888 to win, in honor of Marcucci’s famous number 8M. Many other contingencies will be announced for this race as fans and competitors have graciously been making donations towards this race. The Mod-Lites will utilize an open tire rule. More details will be announced in the next week or two.
The Mercer Summer Nationals will be held on Friday, July 13th and Saturday, July 14th. On Friday, there will be Open Stocks, 270 Micros, 4 Cylinder Mini Stocks, and then a rotating open practice for anyone who wishes to make some laps on the track. On Saturday, there will be 410 Sprints, $3,500 to win, Mod-Lites – Mark Marcucci Tribute, Open Stocks, and Super6 Late Models. Concluding the Saturday portion will be a fireworks display.
The Comfort Inn in Mercer, PA is holding a “Racers Rate” of $65 per night. Camping is free at the track, no hookups available.
