Williams, Curtis, Moore, McEwen, Longwell, Jr. and Marcucci Crowned Mid-Season Champions

Mercer, PA (June 23, 2012): It was Mid-season Championship Night at Mercer Raceway Park. Eric Williams surprised everybody by scoring his career first win in the Luxaire Heating & Cooling Sprint Cars, while Rob Curtis stretched his points lead with the Approved Toilet Rentals 358 Modified division.

Rusty Moore was victorious in the Precise Racing Products Stock Cars. Joe McEwen claimed the Ti22 Performance Outlaw Sprint Warriors win. Steve Longwell, Jr. triumphed over his father in the Mini Stocks. The Modified Lite feature, presented by Big Daddy’s Speed Center and Rock Concrete, went to Mark Marcucci, who started dead last.

By virtue of their points, Bob Felmlee and Jimmy Light occupied the front row for the Luxaire Heating & Cooling Sprint Car main. It took three tries to get the race going. When it did, Felmlee took command. His lead was short-lived, as the Turkey, Eric Williams, charged by him on the outside a few laps into the contest.

Holtgraver and Fink Take Last Lap Wins at Mercer; Miller, Knepper, Bish and Blazak also Score

Mercer, PA (June 17, 2012): Danny Holtgraver saved his best for last, as he barely edged out Rob Chaney to take the Sprint portion of the Auto Racers for Kids benefit race held at Mercer Raceway Park. Not to be outdone, Kyle Fink also made an amazing last lap pass to capture the win in the 358 Modifieds.

Mike Miller was a first-time winner in the Outlaw Sprint Warriors. Alan Knepper scored his first victory of the season in the Modified Lites, while Curtis J. Bish and Pete Blazak returned to winner’s circle in the Street Stocks and Mini Stocks.

The luck of the draw put Holtgraver on the pole, but, much to the surprise of the large crowd, Eric Williams bolted out to the early lead. Williams was strong on the outside, and Holtgraver was constantly working the inside. However, Williams held control through the first nine laps of the event.

Holtgraver made his first strong move to take the lead away on lap ten. The very next circuit, Paul McMahan repeated the maneuver on Williams. McMahan closed rapidly on Holtgraver and took the lead away from him on lap 13. [Read more…]

Holtgraver Doubles up in Sprints; Curtis, McEwen, Marcucci, Batcher and Moore also Win

Mercer, PA (June 9, 2012): There were celebrations galore in the Holtgraver household, as Danny Holtgraver chalked up his second Sprint Car win of the weekend and his sister graduated from high school. Rob Curtis swept his heat and feature, padding his points lead in the Approved Toilet Rentals 358 Modifieds.

It appeared as though Jason Scoville would score his first win at Mercer Raceway Park in the Ti22 Performance Outlaw Sprint Warriors. However, his dominant performance went for naught, as he was 33 pounds light at the scale. The win was conferred on Joe McEwen instead.

Mark Marcucci raced from last on the grid to claim yet another win in the Modified Lites presented by Big Daddy’s Speed Center and Rock Concrete. Jerry Batcher used a restart to regain the lead and earn the win in the Mini Stocks. The finale for the Precise Racing Products Stock Cars went to Rusty Moore, who claimed sole possession of the points lead with the victory. [Read more…]

Mother Nature Wins Again at Mercer Raceway Park; Midgets Rescheduled; Rain Check Policy Announced

Mercer, PA (June 2, 2012): Persistent showers hit Mercer Raceway Park after the pit and front gates were opened, forcing a postponement of the ARDC Midget race. The event will be made up later in the season and track management has announced a generous policy for the use of rain checks and wristbands.

Over twenty Midgets from the American Racing Drivers Club were on hand for the first of two appearances at the track. “We are greatly disappointed that we had to postpone the show,” said track owner Bill Altman. “The Midgets truly supported us, so we are going to give them another date to make up for the loss of this program,” he added.

The next regularly scheduled Midget program will be on July 21. A make-up date has been added for August 11.

Fans and participants will have plenty of opportunities to use their rain checks and wristbands.
The first option is to use them on the next two Saturday Night Live! programs, June 9 and June 21. If the rain checks or wristbands are used for either of those events, there will be no money refunded for the diffference in value.

The second option, which will result in an equal value exchange, would be to hold onto the rain checks and wristbands for use at the following special events: July 14 (FASTRAK NE Regional Late Models); July 21 (ARDC Midgets); August 11 (ARDC Midgets); or August 18 (BRP/Hoosier Tire Modified Tour).
