Mercer, PA (Ju;ly 30, 2011): Nick Wean scored the win in the ARDC Midget race at Mercer Raceway Park, while Danny Holtgraver prepared for his first-ever Knoxville assault with a dominating performance in the Luxaire Heating & Cooling Sprint Cars. Jimmy Holden registered the win in the Approved Toilet Rentals 358 Modifieds. In a bit of irony, Ed Haylett (Big Dog R/C Center Mini Stocks) dedicated his first career win to the memory of his late son, while Dennis Wagner (ti22 Performance Outlaw Sprint Warriors) did likewise with his late father, Dave. Meanwhile, Trusty Rusty Moore scored yet another win in the Precise Racing Products Stock Cars.

Before the track’s biggest crowd of the year, New Jersey’s Nick Wean held off ARDC points leader Drew Heistand. It was Wean’s first of the year and third with the club, which is the nation’s oldest sanctioning body. Wean was surprised when the pace truck picked him up as the leader following a caution for Parker Evans, who had led from the start of the race. Bruce Buckwalter, Jr. was penalized for rough driving. Wean said “I didn’t think that they would make that call, but when they said it on the radio, I was prettyu happy.” Wean also explained that he was fighting engine problems lately and he gave credit to HG for helping him to get it turned around.

Mercer, PA (July 16, 2011): It was a good night for two of the racers running second in track points, as the Kittanning Comet, Rod George (Luxaire Heating & Cooling Sprint Cars), and Jimmy the Jet Holden (Approved Toilet Rentals 358 Modifieds), used their wins to inch closer to the leaders in their respective divisions. Also taking wins were point leaders Guy Griffin (ti22 Performance Outlaw Sprint Warriors) and Rusty Moore (Precise Racing Products Stock Cars). Mark Marcucci (Big Daddy’s Speed Center Modified Lites) and Mike McConnell (Big Dog R/C Center Mini Stocks) were the other winning drivers.

When Mike Lutz was unable to start the Luxaire Heating & Cooling Sprint Car feature, points leader Bob Felmlee took his position on the outside of the front row. His prime contender for the points title, Rod George, was mired in eleventh position. So, everybody in the house thought that Felmlee would have an easy time padding his points lead. Everybody but George, that is.

For Immediate Release

Media Contact:  Lou Long (412-760-9755)

Mercer, PA (July 9, 2011):  Saturday Night Live! racing saw two first-time winners at Mercer Raceway Park, as Todd Gabriel (Big Dog R/C Center Mini Stocks) and Michael Bauer (ti22 Performance Outlaw Sprint Warriors) celebrated in victory lane. Joining them were Jeff Schaffer (Approved Toilet Rentals 358 Modifieds), Danny Holtgraver (Luxaire Heating & Cooling Sprint Cars); Alan Knepper (Big Daddy’s Speed Center Modified Lites) and Rusty Moore (Precise Racing Products Stock Cars).

At the intermission, special guests Jack Sodeman, Jr. and Jack Sodeman, Sr. were recognized. Both were hospitalized in Canada earlier in the week after Jack Jr. broke his leg in a horiffic crash while competing against the All Stars Circuit of Champions Sprint Cars. Jack Sr. needed medical attention due to his heart ailments. The drivers passed the hat to raise some money for Jack Jr.’s recovery and the fans responded with $2,000.

Alan Knepper dominated the Big Daddy’s Speed Center Modified Lites, despite using a back-up car after detonating an engine Friday night at another area speedway. “We just bought this car two weeks ago, and I blew my motor last night in my regular car, so this is the first night on this one.”
