Mercer, PA (June 25, 2011): Kevin Bolland made a daring last lap pass of leader Brian Swartzlander and went on to win the thrilling BRP/Hoosier Tire Modified Tour race presented by All Metals Recycling of Rochester, PA. Bob Felmlee survived a marathon run in the Luxaire Heating & Cooling 410 Sprints, Rusty Moore charged to his third consecutive win in the Precise Racing Products Stock Cars, and Guy Griffin returned to victory lane in the ti22 Performance Outlaw Sprint Warriors. Tim Gillette captured the Kaboom 100 Enduro.
"The traffic is always tought at Mercer, you just have to wait your turn," Bolland said. On several occasions, the traffic thwarted Bolland's ability to pass race leader Brian Swartzlander. However, in the final analysis, a lapped car figured prominently into his winning pass.
Mercer, PA (June 19, 2011) – It was a beautiful night at Mercer Raceway Park for the Mid-Season Championships, and there were plenty of fans in the stands to enjoy it as Jack Sodeman, Justin Whitesell, Frank Guidace, Rusty Moore, Darin Gallagher and Pete Blazczak collected victories. With double points on the line, feature lineups for the top 12 drivers in each division were set by the points standings coming into the night provided that the teams qualified in pill draw positions through their heat races.
Justin Whitesell jumped to an early lead from his second place starting position in the ti22 Performance Outlaw Sprint Warrior feature with veterans Guy Griffin and Mike Lutz nipping at his heels. But Whitesell guided his car through 15 circuits without a bobble, giving him his first career victory and making him the only driver in the class to best Lutz or Griffin this season.
Mercer, PA (June 12, 2011) – With the rain sprinkling on the last two features of the night, Mercer Raceway Park moved quickly through the entire Saturday Night Live program with Brian Ellenberger, Rusty Moore, Jimmy Holden, Brian Miller, Jerry Batcher, and Mike Lutz visiting victory lane.
Rusty Moore opened the night’s features with a dominating performance in the Precise Racing Products Stock Cars as he and second place finisher Marty Warren walked away from the rest of the pack.
The two cars started on the front row with Warren in the leader’s seat but Moore was able to pass him on the first circuit following a caution for last week’s winner Russ Byler. The leaders reached lapped traffic on lap 12, but Warren was unable to get close enough to put a move on Moore in the final circuits of the 15-lap feature. Bob McCann, Joe Kelley and Terry Wheeler rounded out the top five.
Mercer, PA (June 5, 2011) – With looming rain on the horizon, Mercer Raceway Park made quick work of the program last night, crowning Cap Henry, Frank Guidace, Brian Miller, Pete Blazczak, Mike Lutz and Russ Byler the winners in six divisions of Saturday Night Live racing. The Pittsburgh Circle Track Club was also on hand to honor the winning drivers and provide giveaways for the many fans in the grandstands!
Mark Marcucci looked as if he had the Big Daddy’s Speed Center Mod Lite division all wrapped up, but it was hard-charger Brian Miller who took home the checkered flag after a thrilling last-lap pass! It was Miller’s first career win at Mercer Raceway Park.
“It’s exciting to win here at Mercer,” Miller said. “I definitely didn’t think I’d get this first win after starting eleventh.”
